Secret of mana how long to beat

While playing, I ran into several glitches, whether that be the UI bugging out, the characters dropping commands randomly, and AI controlled party members getting stuck in geometry a lot of the time.

It also has shortcomings in the story, where the translation is off, and the dialogue is structured really bizarrely. There's also not really an ending, the game just cuts to the credits after one short scene after the final boss. One thing that happens a lot too is that the music gets cut off by sound effects and that's really annoying because a lot of the music is amazing.

You would think the game would suffer over this but it still holds up surprisingly well. It's hard to get into at the start because the combat is immediately quite awkward.

The attack animations feel off and enemies don't really react to being hit the way you'd expect them to, but you get used to it. It's basically this game's equivalent to turn-based combat, merged with top-down Zelda-style combat, and if you think of it like that it all makes sense. Once you do get used to it, it becomes really fun to play with and it has a great amount of enemy variety that work with this combat.

There's some co-op involved as well but this took around 20 hours to beat and a lot of times you have to go back and forth through the same areas which could really bog down the experience if you're playing with somebody else. I'd recommend play cooperatively but do so with caution. The game shines greatly with its beautiful world and music. The atmosphere is amazingly realised by those factors.

You can go from lush green areas with peppy catchy music to some darker areas with genuinely disturbing music look up the "Ceremony" theme and you'll see what I mean by that. No matter what the tone is, there is always some charm seeping into it, usually through some silly enemy designs. The art style is great fun in that regard.

Enemies are all unique to one another, for the most part, and are generally quite expressive. There is an over-abundance of enemies that clone themselves or spawn other ones. Dungeons are the best part of the game. They aren't entirely strict with puzzle-solving but they offer different challenges and utilise your magic and gear fairly well, except for one dungeon where you run across space for a few seconds and that's it.

The bosses are varying levels of quality. They all end up being easy as soon as you learn to use spells, but the first ones, particularly that weird bouncing ball tiger that just stun-locks you when it feels like it. That one is so annoying I actually quit playing it last time I tried playing through it.

Once you learn mana, you can spam magic over and over again and just win, although you'll want a full inventory of Fairy Walnuts first because running out turns these boss fights into a miserable experience.

If I had to choose a favourite boss, it would have to be a wall that closes in on you, just for how unique the fight is compared to others and how panic-inducing it can be, but it too suffers for how unbalanced it is once you run out of MP, since it instantly kills you if you don't beat it fast enough, which is impossible to do without magic. This review has been fairly negative but I still enjoyed it and would gladly play it again.

It's weirdly compelling that way. It should be a bad game but it just isn't. It's one of the many strange cases out there of a game suffering from development hell but still ended up being a great game by the end in its unfinished state, much like Majora's Mask. Game development is a rough time for everybody involved but when it's done with love like this game was, the product still ends up being great despite its roughness. It isn't a soulless product made to meet a deadline, you can feel the love the developers put into it as you play it, through the world, the characters, the enemies, and the music.

The ending of the game really sums it up for me. Sword of Mana was the fifth release in the series. As of February, the World of Mana comprises five games and one manga , with the possibility of a Wii game under discussion. There are 12 possible ending combinations in the original Trials of Mana. Each character has one ending, plus a variant that occurs if a specific person is also in the party.

User Info: sheeplenk88 sheeplenk88 11 years ago 1 Me and my friend are hoping to do this game in a couple of days, as that's all the time we have available, so I was wondering roughly how long a full playthrough would take? I've played through over probably 3 quarters of the game several times before, so I know roughly where to go for the most part, but I would just like a rough estimate of hours for completion.

Thank you! User Info: NinetaiIs NinetaiIs 11 years ago 2 The game is pretty linear and the difficulty is low really low once you get magic , and there is a lot of stuff you don't have to do User Info: lastelixer lastelixer 11 years ago 3 Are you guys going into the army or what?
